CBC Events

The Chartered Building Company/Consultancy Schemes have been hosting a series of successful networking events around the country as part of their ongoing plans to raise the Schemes’ profile.

Events held throughout the year have helped CBC members gain industry recognition and showcase their role in raising performance standards in construction.

The events were organised around the concept of relevant and interesting presentations, while allowing adequate time for networking with fellow Scheme members and industry representatives, plus the opportunity for talking to the Schemes’ Chair and Manager about future development.

Highlights of the autumn events in Exeter and the Gatwick area included overviews by Doug Goodsir and Norman Reed of the relationship between CBCs and the Considerate Constructors Scheme. There was advice for successful staff attraction and retention by Hays Montrose, and a presentation from Lesley Turney and Corrina Hackwood of V Public Relations of Bristol, on the subject of ‘Restore and Rebuild – an introduction to crisis management and damage limitation in our industry’.   Judith Gilmore at the Sussex event gave an extraordinary presentation on ‘Network Know-How’.  An effective, dynamic presenter, she formed her company, Effective Communications, in 1986 and reckons to have helped 10,000 people to professionally present themselves and their ideas.  We shall be inviting Judith to speak again at some of our 2005 events.

A full timetable of CBC events is planned for 2005.  Please look on the CBC website, www.cbcscheme.org.uk for CBC news or call the CBC team on 01344 630743.
