Once ratified, it is the intention that any CBC with a site over 6 weeks duration is registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme.
Clive Benfield, CBC Chair, said that he was delighted to introduce this relationship which in yet another way would reflect the CBC Scheme’s determination to be at the forefront of industry standards.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme was conceived in 1995, as a direct result of the previous year’s Latham Review. Since then a Code of Considerate Practice agreed, and a procedure for monitoring sites introduced. The Code of Practice is widely used to ensure standards are met in consideration, environment, cleanliness, neighbourliness, respect, safety, responsibility and accountability.
The CCS has flourished and now enjoys an ever-growing sphere of influence. The CIOB has our ‘Change in our Sites’ campaign to improve site conditions, and it is intended that a CBC relationship with the Considerate Constructors will complement this and further help our members demonstrate their commitment to professional standards.
